They are expected to understand SCOM technology architecture and have deep management pack developer expertise to tackle important challenges at the forefront of enterprise monitoring. We are the incident management and monitoring operations team that is evolving along the manageability maturity model. A candidate must relish the excitement moving Microsoft from chaotic service to proactive service.
This is a highly technical role with significant hands-on skills and responsibilities. This job combines operations engineering, software development engineering, and technology architect responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze monitoring requirements, then design and implement monitoring solutions with OpsMgr management packs, connectors, SQL, scripting, code, tools, and application instrumentation.
• Implement advanced pack objects (such as modules, workflows, and types) which will be used by others to create packs. You must have extensive experience with these in order to qualify for this position.
• Document specs and user guidance for the objects, tools, processes that you create.
• Identify are remedy recurrent problems with monitoring and the monitoring platform
• Lead by example and be available to provide guidance to team members and occasionally to members of other teams. You must be able to function as the local SME for advanced monitoring at both broad and deep levels.
• Occasionally be called in to diagnose monitoring problems which have been escalated to your level. You will track the problems to the root cause, and drive the solutions. You will interact with the customer and own the problems until resolution. The buck stops with you.
• Create quality tools which streamline/automate the processes involved in pack development and monitoring platform diagnosis.
• Assess new systems designs and technical strategies and drive those into production.
• Support the implementation, integration, and evolution of complex systems.
• Design and maintain monitoring support strategies.
• Own/drive/contribute monitoring/manageability specs and standards that apply to the entire organization.
• Continuously review and recommend infrastructure solutions that improve scalability, availability, performance, and redundancy in a cost efficient manner.
• Drive improvement in processes, manageability, availability and cost efficiency with a strong ability to anticipate future demands.
• Interact with systems and service administrators both to troubleshoot issues as well as determine requirements for monitoring.
Basic Qualifications:
