We are looking for a highly talented monitoring operations expert. They are expected to understand SCOM technology architecture and have deep management pack developer expertise to tackle important challenges at the forefront of enterprise monitoring. We are the incident management and monitoring operations team that is evolving along the manageability maturity model. A candidate must relish the excitement moving Microsoft from chaotic service to proactive service.



This is a highly technical role with significant hands-on skills and responsibilities. This job combines operations engineering, software development engineering, and technology architect responsibilities.



Responsibilities:



• Analyze monitoring requirements, then design and implement monitoring solutions with OpsMgr management packs, connectors, SQL, scripting, code, tools, and application instrumentation.

• Implement advanced pack objects (such as modules, workflows, and types) which will be used by others to create packs. You must have extensive experience with these in order to qualify for this position.

• Document specs and user guidance for the objects, tools, processes that you create.

• Identify are remedy recurrent problems with monitoring and the monitoring platform

• Lead by example and be available to provide guidance to team members and occasionally to members of other teams. You must be able to function as the local SME for advanced monitoring at both broad and deep levels.

• Occasionally be called in to diagnose monitoring problems which have been escalated to your level. You will track the problems to the root cause, and drive the solutions. You will interact with the customer and own the problems until resolution. The buck stops with you.

• Create quality tools which streamline/automate the processes involved in pack development and monitoring platform diagnosis.

• Assess new systems designs and technical strategies and drive those into production.

• Support the implementation, integration, and evolution of complex systems.

• Design and maintain monitoring support strategies.

• Own/drive/contribute monitoring/manageability specs and standards that apply to the entire organization.

• Continuously review and recommend infrastructure solutions that improve scalability, availability, performance, and redundancy in a cost efficient manner.

• Drive improvement in processes, manageability, availability and cost efficiency with a strong ability to anticipate future demands.

• Interact with systems and service administrators both to troubleshoot issues as well as determine requirements for monitoring.

Basic Qualifications:



· Effective skills in documenting processes, procedures, architecture, and tools.

· Strong analytical problem solving skills.

· Strong understanding of problems/incidents from the owner and support perspective

· cross-boundary collaboration skills, building working relationships

· 8+ years of production IT experience with Microsoft products.

· 5+ years software development experience

· 3+ years management pack development experience

· Experience working in both Production and Lab environments



Knowledge & Technical Experience:



· Network architecture and protocols

· ITIL and MOF frameworks

· Design, development, administration of SQL, IIS

· ITLC and SDLC

· transactional monitoring, process and task automation, testing processes, build process, configuration management, release management, and server deployment

Extensive experience with:

· OpsMgr architecture, deployment, administration

· Scripting in powershell and vbscript.

· Software development in C#.

· Implementing custom management pack modules, types, workflows, monitors and rules

· Implementing OpsMgr connectors

· developing management packs in native XML and the Authoring Console

Job Description

Responsible for the design, installation, configuration, monitoring and Administration of SaaS environments hosted in-house as well as at Service Provider Locations. This is a job with 24/7 responsibilities and hence the candidate should le be willing to work in day or Night Shifts on rotation basis. Certification in Red Hat Linux is must.

Technical Skills

-          Expertise in Linux and Unix ,

-          Expertise in Apache and MySQL , Storage technologies.

-          Monitoring IT applications and systems., Second Line and Third Line Support for  IT systems

-          Coordination with Hosting Service Providers for Incidents, Problems and Design aspects

-          Production Support , analysis of logs usage patterns and proactive troubleshooting.

-          Configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting and support of web applications primarily in a Linux/UNIX environment and application management skills for Production Environments.

-          Experience with shell scripting

-          Knowledge of emerging cloud computing technologies from IT perspective.

Soft Skills

-          Good spoken and written communication skills

-          Preparation and Presentation technical designs and documentation

Prior Experience 

-          Should have worked with a Server Hosting Provider or equivalent responsibilities in a Corporate IT

-          Experience in Hosting and managing Web Applications
